Questions and Answers

Thanks to Joyce, I'm addicted to Lou Cee L's blog. Yesterday, he posted questions that had been asked of him by another blogger, Maggie of Maggie's Mind.

Want to be part of it? Follow these instructions:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone
else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them
five questions.
You have to link back to the original post
(http://maggiesmind.blogspot.com/2009/01/ive-got-answers.html)
and also to Lou's post
(http://louceel.blogspot.com/2009/01/questions-and-answers.html)
and to mine.

I asked Lou to interview me. He had great questions, which was not a surprise. That Lou is a very cerebral guy.

The questions and my responses?

1-What is your favorite childhood memory?

Oh, gosh. Anytime I have to pick ONE, I choke. I’ll take two out of the running because I’ve written about them already. The one I’m choosing I believe I already wrote about, too, but it really drives home how much my Dad paid attention.

In 1976, I was in fifth grade. Our flamboyant and wonderful music teacher, Dr. Wheeler, was taking a well deserved sabbatical and we got a wonderful replacement for the year, Ms. Maynard. For our winter concert, Ms. Maynard chose an assortment of songs from “Fiddler on the Roof.” The show was enjoying a revival on Broadway and I was entranced with the music. Not only was I singing the songs during rehearsals, I was singing them at home. A lot.

My dad took note and for Christmas, presented me with tickets to see the show. I loved the evening in New York City, just me and Dad, fancy restaurant dinner, broadway show and then the icing on the cake-he’d arranged for me to meet Zero Mostel!

That night is a classic example of how in tune my Dad was to what Giggles and I liked.

2-Who is the person you most admire - that is alive today?

Again, I could choke, because it’s hard to choose one. This time, I’m staying in the family. My sister, Kathi, also known as Giggles, is the person I most admire. Right now, she’s dealing with RSD and taking an insane amount of college classes (20 plus credits each semester).

Exactly 3 years ago, she started a nursing assistant program, but she’ll be graduating this May with a Bachelor’s in Science. She’s doing this and raising two boys AND found time to apply for a prestigious scholarship program. I think she’s got it-because she’s that smart.

Giggles is living the family motto “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.

3-If you could live anywhere - where would that be?

I’d say Hawaii, because it’s just so pretty, but that’s darn expensive. I think it’d be better to do what the snowbirds do and spend a portion of the year one place and the rest of the year someplace different.
If money were no object and there weren’t residency requirements, I’d like to spend part of the year in Australia and the rest here in the Southeast US. The job market sucks here, so we’ll say I don’t need one! If we both had decent jobs, I think we’d like living here a lot more.

4-What do you like to eat when you're feeling 'down'?

Ahhh, comfort food. I love all food, but Mom made the best comfort foods.
Au gratin potatoes with ham chunks are one of the best meals in the world (but now I make it from scratch-even better), Roast beef with mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli is another and eggplant parmesan is the last. All three remind me of Mom and that’s the best comfort in the world.

And because I liked this question best when Maggie asked me -
5-What do you like most about being a woman?
That’s a toughie. Ed will tell you I think more like a guy a lot of the time.

When you come down to it, I think the best thing about being a woman is the ability to have kids. I can’t imagine my life without these two boys in my life and it’s thrilling to know that I nurtured them, delivered them and was able to nourish them, too. (Alas, not long enough with Gameboy, but Chef more than made up for it.)

How about you? Would you like to be interviewed by Yours Truly? If so, just request to be interviewed in the comments and I'll choose some questions for you to post on your blog!

I love your answers Suzanne, you wrote a great post, once again!
I already got my questions from Lou. I think I'll do the post on Friday, because I passed on the award I got from you today, and that was already very very time consuming!! And I agree, the question about being a woman is a tough one!

I am so glad you answered your questions so well. And true. Thank you for playing. I am going to have to quit lurking here and start leaving comments.
