Hey, Toshiba!

Sooooo...

Apparently, Toshiba no longer allows Electronics World to do warranty repairs for the big box retailers. Now, the machines have to be sent out.

With a one to two week turnaround.

And they wipe out hard drives on all machines that come in for servicing-whether they need it or not. I found this out with NINETEEN minutes of battery life left on my machine. I don't know of any hardware backup that works that quickly, either.

The machine was sent off this morning with a couple of notes attached.

Toshiba, if a machine is coming in for issues that have nothing to do with the hard drive, why would you scrub it?

I'm holding my breath until the machine comes back...

I hope you have a backup.

Back-up, back-up, back-up

You're both right. Until recently, the finances did not allow for an external drive. Running hither, thither and yon for someone else's move put it further down the list. Ugh.

I just bought a 500GB Seagate expansion drive at Target for $52.00. Target is putting these drives on close-out to make room for the new 1TB Seagate expansion drives.

It sounds like a good time for me to make a backup of my hard drive!

Thanks for that info! That's a good deal and Seagates have been fairly stable. On the to do list for this week...

That deal that I got on the Seagate expansion drive was a store manager special so it may not be available in your area.
