What's For Dinner Wednesday

A few months back, Chef came up with his idea of a good sandwich. He started with asiago cheese bread, slathered on honey mustard dressing, added applewood smoked ham and cheddar cheese, then grilled them.

These panini's have been a family favorite ever since. Tonight, the boys asked for pizza, but we also had some last night. I decided that I was having panini instead.

The only thing I altered from Chef's 'recipe' was that I used sourdough bread in place of the asigo. It was a good replacement. I fully expect Ed to ask me to make some when he gets home from work in an hour...

**Please note, this post was written in 2008, over 7 years ago.  This is not current, but remains to detail the DISboards bannings.** The other day, I wrote of my banning from the Disboards, a site I belonged to for six years. I was banned for participating in another site, as were approximately 35 others. The list will be posted further in this entry. If you skip this post because it doesn't mean anything except to the participants, I don't mind. This is mainly out there for the hundreds (over 7,500 now!**) of Google searches that have been directed to my blog since the bannings. Olde Town Pizzeria and Pasta, Plant City

While New York style thin crust is my absolute favorite pizza, there is a place in my heart for Chicago Deep Dish, too. When Pizzeria Uno expanded years ago and opened one on LI convenient to the movie theatre my dad, sister and I patronized most often, it got a lot of our business. Years later, I even got a job waiting tables at Uno's, because I loved their product. Here in Florida, we've got several places that serve the pizza that you eat with a fork and knife. This is good, because the nearest Uno's locations flank either side of Walt Disney World and are way too hectic to consider on anything but a weeknight. Enter Olde Town. Their Brandon location is in the same little strip mall as Carvel, so it was a matter of time before we decided to give them a try.
